Abstract

Epoxy resin is a widely used insulation material in various applications, including transformers, GIS switch gears, and electronics. Adding micro-nano-sized fillers to epoxy composites show potential for enhancing their thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. Filler type and its concentration are important factors in advancing the performance of epoxy resins as an insulation material for various industrial applications. This paper investigates the potential enhancement of mechanical and electrical characteristics, particularly dielectric strength and flashover, in epoxy insulation systems through the incorporation of nano-composites and micro-composites. This study explores the effectiveness of incorporating micro and nano fillers inside epoxy composites on their mechanical and electrical properties, specifically their dielectric strength and flashover. This work reviews existing research demonstrating the promise of nano composites and micro composites in improving the performance of epoxy insulation. This study aims to provide insights into the potential of epoxy-based nanocomposites and micro composites for advancing insulation technology.
